Need for root canal treatment results from advanced caries, that reaches deep into the tooth tissue (pulp) and bacterial processes. When pulp is necrotic, people commonly say that a tooth is dead.

Not treated dead tooth lead to further infection of tissues surrounding the tooth, pain and deterioration of the general health of the organism. Because of their fragility, dead tooth may crack or fracture, what sometimes can lead to its removal. A very common problem is the tooth previously treated in inappropriate way.

Endodontic treatment involves removal of tissue inside the tooth, cleaning root of the canal, disinfecting and filling with the proper materials. Deep disinfection and sterilization are performed by using laser or PAD methods. Reconstruction of tooth structure is possible after the removal of infection, sealing of the channel and the establishing the strengthening. It can be made of gold, titanium, zirconium or fiberglass. Selection of the material depends on the aesthetic and functional expectations.
